British took control of the state under their colonization effort in 1909 and received her independence like the rest of Malaysia in 1957.

The state's capital, Kuala Terengganu which stands on the banks of the Terengganu River is unaffected by the hustle and bustle of the city life but is somewhat unmoved by the urban pressure, just like any other towns in the state.

Today, many people who seek recreational and relaxation by the beach head to Terengganu to break away from the busy city life. It is this alluring tranquility that Terengganu draws crowd from all over the world including domestic travelers.
