Redang Island

Located 50 km. off the coast of Setiu district is one of the most beautiful and exotic islands in Malaysia. Far from the hustle and bustle of a big town or city, Redang Island offers crystal clear water, pearly white shores, a colorful array of spectacular marine life, a breathtaking sunset and what could be the world's most mature coral gardens. This, paradise like island is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, jungle trekking, fishing, boating and canoeing. It takes about 2 hours to 2 hours and a half by boat from the village of Merang. However, visitors have to abide by the Fisheries Act 1985 as Redang Island is one of the few marine parks in Malaysia. No fishing is allowed within a 3.2 km. radius of the island, and the collection of coral and aquatic life is prohibited.

Pinang Island

The Marine Park at Pinang Island off Redang Island is popular amongst snorkeling enthusiasts due to its diverse coral gardens and marine life's, which provides a burst of color in the turquoise sea. Journey to the island by boat takes approximately 2 hours from Merang Jetty.

Lang Tengah Island

Lang Tengah Island offers a more secluded getaway. Its light green waters are crystal clear thus visibility is so good that the seabed can be seen from the boat, along with inconspicuous stonefish and sea cucumbers. Fish swims close to the shore, unperturbed by human presence. Journey to the island by boat takes approximately 2 hours from Merang Jetty.

Bidong Island

The Institute of Oceanography under KUSTEM is stationed on this island. Undertaking the study of conservation and preservation of South China Sea ecosystems. Once a site for Vietnamese refugees, a memorial was erected to dedicate those who once resided here. Visitors to the island are advised to arrange for a guide tour. Journey to the island by boat takes approximately 1 hour and a half from Merang Jetty.

Penarik Beach

Sandwiched between the Penarik River in Setiu and the South China Sea, lie scattered along the palm-fringed shores are the traditional wooden homes of fishermen. An interesting sight is fishing boats returning to shore with their daily catch. Enjoy a fresh seafood meal in the evening at one of the beachside stalls. With its gently sloping sand and fairly shallow, sparkling waters, Penarik Beach makes a perfect setting for beach lovers to enjoy a day of uninterrupted bliss.
