Sarawak - Bintulu Division |

Bintulu Division situated in Central Region of Sarawak, East Malaysia, on the island of Borneo encompasses of two (2) districts namely, Bintulu itself and Tatau. It has an approximate total land area of 12,1662.2 square kilometers, and is the third largest division after Kapit and Miri.
Bintulu District has an approximate land area of 7,220.4 square kilometers. Its town, Bintulu located at the coast is also the district’s capital was

mainly a port for fishing and timber. Kemena River provides access to the sea for the timber industry. Later, the town boomed into a major petroleum centre.
Bintulu has the world's single largest natural gas processing plant, which is owned by Malaysia Liquified Natural Gas Corporation (MLNG), a subsidiary of the government-owned oil corporation Petronas. Today, the main economic activities of Bintulu are centered on the oil and gas industry. Bintulu Port is Malaysia's second largest port. Also serve as a transit point for travellers visiting the Niah Caves National Park, or the Similajau National Park.
Bintulu is accessible by air and road. The completion of the Pan-Borneo Highway has connected Bintulu by road to other major towns in Sarawak. Bintulu Airport is located 5.5 km. south west of the town and is equipped to handle aircraft up to the size of a Boeing 737.
Tatau is a town, and the capital of the Tatau District has an approximate land area of 4,945.8 square kilometers is in Bintulu Division.

Council Negeri Monument |
Visit the monument and take a nostalgic walk down memory lane. On this site, a centenary stone was erected in 1967 (and a clock tower and a fountain were added in 1987) to commemorate the centennial celebration of Malaysia's first and oldest state legislative assembly meeting.
In September 1867, an inaugural gathering of five British officers, led by the second white Rajah of Sarawak Charles Brooke, and 16 local chiefs of various races of Sarawak took place at this very location. |

Kampung Jepak |
Take a short ride in Bot Tambang (river bus) and meet the fishermen community at this nearby fishing village across the Kemena River. You will be amazed to see the traditional feature and lifestyle of the Bintulu Melanau such as fish drying, manufacturing of the renowned Bintulu Belacan (shrimps paste), Cencaluk (salted shrimps) and sago processing are still very much alive. The experience will certainly bring you back to the reminiscence of the old Bintulu as a fishing village. |

Sarawak Agricultural Park |
This 50 hectare park, located adjacent to the Sibiew River, is about 15 minute drive from Bintulu Town. Here you can gaze at over 20 types of wild plants, an array of orchids, 77 species of fruits, and flocks of sheep, just an experience to remember by.
Or you can simply snug yourself comfortably in the rustic charm of an all belian (ironwood) amphitheatre and experience walking along the hanging pedestrian bridge within a preserved and enriched tropical jungle. Other recreational features include playgrounds, boating in man-made lakes, fishing and horse riding. |

Taman Tumbina |
A zoological and botanical park offers a glimpse of the flora and fauna available in Bintulu area. Situated on a 12-hectare site at the Tanjung Batu Coastal Reserve about four kilometres from town centre, the park is a source of living heritage with educational and recreational values.
Set on a hilltop overlooking the South China Sea and the Bintulu Town, the sight from within is definitely not-to- be-missed. Feast your eyes with a first hand view of the State's official bird, the Hornbill; the fearless eagles, the orang utans, the flamingos, the only tigers and lions in Borneo, crocodiles, pythons and many more. The great Batang Kemena is a gateway to explore the fascinating lives in the hinterland of Bintulu. A four-hour cruise on speedboats will bring visitors closer to understand the diverse cultures of the many natives settling along the river.

Kidurong Tower |
Kidurong Tower is an elevated observatory tower built at the peak of the highest point at Tanjung Kidurong.
The view from the tower describes how well man-made highly technological structures existed in harmony with the natural environment. It is from this spot, visitors could see the nerve centre of industries in Bintulu, ranging from the deep-sea port's physical shape protruding out to the South China Sea, combination of steel and concretes of the LNG installations, as well as the highly technical operation of the world's first middle distillates plant. |
