Situated 60 km. from Rompin, the rainforests of the Endau Rompin has been in existence for over one million years. In fact, it is one of the world's oldest tropical rainforests. Here, its flora and fauna have evolved into a unique eco-system of exotic species found nowhere else on earth.
Endau Rompin is one of the major remaining lowland forests covering 80,000 hectares of virgin jungle which straddles the states of Pahang and Johor is home to the Sumatran Rhino, an extinct species found nowhere else in Malaysia.
This nature reserve offers a whole spectrum of activities for the adventurous, including camping, jungle trekking, mountain hiking, bird-watching, boating and fishing. It also provides the opportunity to get back to nature and experience the mysterious secrets of its wilderness.

Tioman Island (locally, Pulau Tioman) is a small island located 32 km. off the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia in the state of Pahang. The island encompassing approximately 12,383 hectares has eight main villages, namely Tekek (the most populous), Air Batang, Salang, Juara, Mukut, Nipah, Genting and Paya.
The island boasts miles and miles of white sandy beaches. It is also densely forested with a striking profile of the twin peaks of Gunung Simukut which provides a remarkable landmark to this beautiful island reputed to be one of the most beautiful & idyllic islands in the world.
According to legend, this island is the final resting place of a mythical dragon princess. Till today, the island bears a startling resemblance to a sleeping dragon. The warm waters and good visibility make Tioman a paradise for divers. Discover astounding sights such as colorful Gorgonian sea fans, Staghorn corals, nudibranchs and beautifully sculptured sea sponges. Snorkellers can delight in swimming alongside huge Napoleon Wrasse, Golden Striped Trevally, Bumphead Parrotfish and shoals of Fusiliers.
Apart from its diverse marine life, there are several protected species of mammals on the island including the Binturong, Long-tailed Macaque, Slow Loris, Black Giant Squirrel, Red Giant Flying Squirrel, Mouse Deer, Brush-tailed Porcupine and Common Palm Civet from a total of 45 species of mammals and 138 species of birds, including the majestic Frigatebird.

You simply relax and bask in the sun on the palm-fringed beach or walk at your leisure during sunset to experience the beauty and charm of the island. Getting There
Tioman Island is conveniently accessible by sea or by air. From the jetty at Tanjung Gemuk or Mersing, the island is about one to two hours ferry ride away. Tanjung Gemuk is located off the estuary of Endau. The river on the Pahang-Johor border has a ferry terminal where services to the island are available twice daily (at 11.00 am. and 2.00 pm. If you are coming from Singapore, the Auto Batam Ferry Service provides daily services from Tanah Merah jetty terminal. For fast and comfortable journey, you may travel by air to Tioman Island either from Singapore Selatar Airport, Kuala Lumpur Subang Airport or Kuantan Airport.
Getting Around
To get around and about on the island, you may trek to enjoy the tropical lush greenery or cycle for short excursions. Bicycles are available for hire. For island hopping, you may hire a powered boat at reasonable rate. Regular boat services or sea buses ply the villages around the island. |
