Tanjung Tuan |
Tanjung Tuan or Cape Rachado, which Negeri Sembilan surrounds is an enclave administered by the state of Malacca. In 1921 the entire area was gazetted as a permanent forest reserve. |

Tanjung Tuan Lighthouse |
After Portugal conquered Malacca in 1511, the Portuguese built a lighthouse in Tanjung Tuan or Cape Rachado to guide its ships to port into Malacca, which is still operational today, is the oldest lighthouse in Malaysia. Its structure has however been changed to suit its used base on present times. Climb up the narrow spiral staircase and see the panoramic view of the coastline of Sumatra, 38 km. across the Straits of Malacca. |

Tanjung Tuan Forest Reserve |
The Tanjung Tuan Forest Reserve is also venue to a Recreational Park and Wildlife Sanctuary. From September to March the cape is an annual stopover point for migratory birds. During the peak of migration, the Malaysian Nature Society organises Raptor Watch Week here and can be seen here together with hawks and eagles are sparrows, honey buzzards and swifts. |

Hang Tuah Footprint |
Take approximately 63 steps down next to the lighthouse that leads into a jungle track in order to reach at a secluded beach. The footprint embedded in a rock, about 50 m. to the right of the track, is said to be that of Hang Tuah, the legendary Malay warrior of the 15th. century. Legend has it that upon acquiring innate strength and knowledge, Hang Tuah chose to meditate here. The footprint marks the spot where he first landed at Tanjung Tuan. A well close by it whose cool chilled water is a haven for the tired and thirsty, is also said to have been dug by him. |
